An essential aspect in establishing an Oratory in any place is the Pious House or the place of residence for the Community. Since each community is distinct and separate from the others, each particular place must have Stability or Permanence. Part of what provides this stability is the ownership of property, which is one of the reasons why the Church has always been a champion in support of private property ownership. We have been fortunate enough to obtain two houses across from Old St. Mary’s Parish, on Clay Street in Cincinnati. The houses are in very bad condition however, and will take a lot of time, effort, and money to repair the houses. We and a committee of lay people for the Pious House (called the Steering Committee for the Pious House) have been working with students from Miami University in drawing up renovation plans that will suit the needs of the future Cincinnati Oratory. Those should be released in the coming weeks. Until then, here are a few pictures from the houses to show the condition they are currently in. This is our number one project at this time, but we have many others in our mind for throughout the years! We hope to finish the Pious House by the latest October 2013…
